Recent Events - 2011
| December | We had our Annual Christmas Fair on the first Saturday of the month. Besides offering the usual Crafts, Gift Jars, and Homemade items made by our parishioners, we also offered a new raffle that gave people chances to win some interesting items such as Kindle Fire. We held the Children's Christmas Pagent during the Dec. 18 mid-morning service. For Christmas services we held both on Christmas Eve Day. The first was the Silver Tea Service, as it has become known, in the early afternoon (since tea and cookies follow the service). The second one was later in the evening, which had a Carol Sing right before it.. As is often the case, the turn out for both was nice as many came to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. |
| November | A Thanksgiving Eve Service was held at the church in order to give thanks to God for all we have and are. |
| October | Pet Blessings were held in honor of St. Francis. Dogs and cats and rabbits - oh my! were on-hand for a special blessing. We held our first ever, 'So You Think You Can Bake' event. Contestants baked 2 identical cakes that were judged - one on taste and the other on looks. Who were the lucky judges? Parishioners! In the middle of the month we held our Annual All-Parish Event; it featured a delicious chicken dinner and some great fellowship, and of course desserts! The month ended with another "Family Movie Night" for children 12 yrs. and under and their families. We watched Toy Story 2 along with pizza, popcorn and drinks. |
| September | The Welcome-Back Brunch was held earlier in the month. It always is a great and comforting thing to find out how each of us enjoyed our summer vacations and the like, especially when eating a great brunch! Our Sunday school began began on the 25th. |
| June | Recognition Sunday this year had a Pancake Breakfast in between services as well as our traditional Ice Cream Sundaes after the 10 AM service. St. Anne's Strawberry Festival was again a big hit. The month ended with St. Anne's Annual Golf Tournament, which had its best turnout in a while. Though the weather - downpours, thunder and lightening a couple of hours beforehand - almost made it questionable this time. |
| April | Family Night at St. Anne's for Pizza and a Movie was at the beginning of the month. Everyone who came enjoyed watching Toy Story; it was a great night! There was also a Trivia Night, with teams competing in their knowledge of the known and not-so-known things in the world. |
| March | Rebecca Giroux, one of our youth at church, hosted a Pancake Supper on Shrove Tuesday as part of her work on the Youth Leadership Academy. Rev. Peggy began a Newcomer's meeting for those who were fairly new to St. Anne's or who had questions about their faith or the Episcopal Church. A New Family Service was held during the 10 AM service on the third Sunday of the month. Since St. Anne's is blessed with many young families, Rev. Peggy began designing a shorter and less formal service that will bring children and their parents together both during the service and after. More such services are planned for the future; we hope you will attend. |
| February | Our Diocesan Bishop, The Right Reverend M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE visited our parish on Saturday February 12. Much happened on that day. There was a "Meet and Greet" for all families with young children (up to age seven). We had a great turn out; it was great to see all of the young children with the Bishop. A light breakfast was served. During our 10 AM Service of Holy Eucharist, we had several couples participate in the Renewal of their Marriage Vows. Following the service there was Coffee and Conversation with the congregation. It was a chance for all of us to ask Bishop Shaw questions - and he of us. Finally there was a catered luncheon meeting with Bishop, Rev. Peggy and the Vestry. It was a wonderful and fulfilling day! |
| January | The Annual Meeting was held toward the 3rd weekend during this snowy winter January. A delicious potluck lunch followed the special 9:30 AM service. |
